GAITHERSBURG, MD, October 21, 2008 – Fusion UV Systems, Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of P.K. Swain, Ph.D. as Chief Technology Officer and VP Technology. Dr. Swain is responsible for providing technology leadership for the company; driving the evaluation, development and acquisition of new technologies, materials, and processes that will shape and define Fusion UV’s next generation products.
Dr. Swain comes to Fusion UV from Sarnoff Corporation where he most recently served as Director of Engineering for Sarnoff Imaging Systems. Sarnoff provides contract research for government and corporate clients in the fields of electronics, biomedicine, and information technology. During his tenure there he and his team developed a technology platform critical for achieving high pixel density imaging systems for digital still cameras, cell phone cameras, camcorders, and small cameras for medical applications, as well as several other commercial business opportunities. Prior to leading the Imaging Systems division, he served as Technical Manager for Sarnoff Bioelectronic Systems, which he formed to pursue his vision to integrate advanced semiconductor technology with biological systems.
Dr. Swain earned his Masters and PhD in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur and New Delhi. He relocated to the United States in 1995 and became a research associate at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. His concentration was on strained SiGe heterostructures for integrating them into mainstream silicon technology, and he collaborated extensively with AT&T laboratories.
